An Invitation from the Director, Dianne Strong RunserThe
Monroeville Chorus was founded in 1953 by a group of church musicians
who wanted to sing something other than church music in four-part
harmony. The first concert was performed in 1954. Since that time, much has changed about the chorus. We
have changed personnel. We have changed styles of music. We have
changed equipment. We now carry our own risers, keyboard and
amplification equipment to each concert. We have changed attire. We
have changed directors and accompanists. We have changed audiences. Now I know what you are thinking - "What's left?"
First, we are STILL a group of musicians who like to have fun with our
music and sing in four-part harmony. Second, we STILL like to perform
for groups in Monroeville and surrounding communities. So my invitation is two-fold. First, if you like to sing and have fun with your music, we are always looking for new members. We rehearse the 2nd and 4th Mondays at 7:00 PM at Bethel United Presbyterian Church on Beatty Road in Monroeville. Second, if you are or you know someone who is a program chairman for some group or organization, we know that sometimes you get this honor because you didn't step backwards fast enough when they asked for volunteers. We would like to make the job a little easier. We are available for afternoon and evening performances (with slightly different personnel at different times). For more information, see any member of the chorus, or use the contact information listed below. We will see you soon!
